A Poor Widow Is Grateful (and HoPEful)!

Ms. Periyaka is a poor widow who, sadly, has no children to look after her. In order to survive she tends goats from morning until night every day. Recently, the vision in her right eye has been becoming hazy and soon she won’t see well enough to earn her meager living. Compassionate neighbors try to help her but they also are very poor. Regardless, she is grateful that she can usually eat every day on her meager Widow’s Pension even if it is often nothing more than rice porridge. She knows many people who are less fortunate.

With the help of HoPE for the Elderly and our benevolent sponsors, widows like Ms. Periyaka and those abandoned by their husbands and families can get regular groceries delivered to their home by HoPE staff and volunteers. They receive ration kits consisting of rice, toor dal, sunflower oil, chili powder, pepper, cumin seed, mustard, bottled pickles, bath soap, washing soap, shampoo, tooth powder, coconut oil, cough syrup and pain relieving gel.

Having three meals a day and some personal care items can go a long way towards restoring HoPE, dignity gratitude to destitute human beings.

For only $40 per month, you can feed, clothe, comfort and provide companionship to a poor elderly person like Ms. Periyaka. You could be the only person now empowered to save a precious life!
