They have a three-pronged approach to service. First, is the need to provide people with basic necessities such as food, clothing and shelter. Then education must be provided to nurture their awareness, creativity and capability to create a brighter future for themselves. Finally, income opportunities must be provided to improve their standard of living. In this way, we can help people to exit the vicious cycle of poverty that has ensnared their lives.

A previous Tripura Foundation partner, the Banyan is a unique social welfare institution. Their Adaikalam residential facility in Moggapair, Chennai cares for 380 women with mental health issues who have been abandoned by Indian society. Of the approximately 1500 women who have gone through their doors, 850 have been rehabilitated. In some cases the women are restored to a level of mental health such that they can return to their families or work in the world; in other cases, the women are given long term care and treated with dignity.
