Sounds for Hope Launched in Mexico - (formerly called 'Super Niņos')

The Sounds for Hope (formerly called SKIP or SAIP (Super Adolescents Intelligence Program)), officially began in late October 2005 as a pilot project in Mexico.

Now, several schools in Mexicali, Mexico, which borders California, are implementing the MST program delivered by Sounds for Hope. The keen response of many public school principals has also prompted outreach to spread to other large cities in the region of Baja California, such as Ensenada and Tijuana

The Sounds for Hope Mexico Project was presented as part of the official program of "The New Paradigm of Science in Education" conference held at the University of Baja California in Mexicali on December 8, 2005 was attended by two hundred and fifty participants. The Sounds for Hope team also held a very successful workshop during the conference, teaching the sound techniques to many teachers present and also sharing their teaching experiences.

The changes witnessed by the core group of volunteers (Sounds for Hope team) in just a couple of months of using these techniques with students have been remarkable. They are reporting that the children are more focused and enthusiastic with some of the more disruptive children experiencing a complete turn-around. All of the children using the techniques are more peaceful, centered and cooperative.

Sounds for Hope volunteers have brought poor children in from the street to teach them sound technology at a local public library. They report that one child in particular who was originally disoriented, dirty and unkempt, is now focused, calm and clean. Most of these children live in deplorable conditions as victims of domestic violence in environments ridden with alcohol/drug abuse and prostitution.

Testimonials

The volunteer teachers are also experiencing personal transformations as they teach these techniques to young people since the sounds are also very effective with adults. The team's dedication to improving the lives of Mexican children is truly admirable.
