Successful Projects

Sunday Feeding at a Neighboring Slum
The service of Tripura Foundation started in November of 1999 with feeding the people who are most often overlooked- our neighbors.

Biweekly feedings for Polio-Disabled Children
In September of 2000, Tripura Foundation inaugurated another project targeting the hunger of some of the most unfortunate children of India- the polio-disabled.

Scholarship Program for Poor Students
In October of 2000, Tripura Foundation started contributing to a program run by the Rotary Club of Madras to support poor students in their efforts to obtain an education.

After-School Feeding in the Government Schools of Chennai
Our second project in India, launched in October of 2000, is targeted at alleviating the hunger and enhancing the daily nutritional intake of poor school-going children. In developing this project, we intend on boosting the academic success of poor children whose families encourage them to attend school.

Helping the Destitute Mentally ill of Chennai
We support the laudable efforts of a unique social welfare institution in Chennai called the Banyan House. This institution is run almost solely through private donations, and was straining to meet the expenses of caring for all the needs of their residents.

Tsunami Rehabilitation
In April and May of 2005, we carried out our first phase in our Tsunami Rehabilitation Plan. Each candidate was individually selected by an extensive research process involving multiple home visits and was carried out by a large, very reputable, 75-year-old volunteer organization in India called Sevabharathi - and personally verified again by follow-up home visits by our own staff in India.
