The Chinese Proverb "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man
to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" sums up our intention for this
project.
There are many relief organizations providing the hungry with food. This is a
very important and much needed service as the mind and body need nourishment in
order to survive, however it is only a stop gap solution. Natural disasters,
insufficient crop yields, and/or disease has broken spirits and left entire
villages in a depression. They need HoPE.
To provide a long term solution to the Poverty
Cycle, it is important to raise self esteem and spirit thereby
increasing productivity levels which leads to a successful, happy, healthy
village. We will develop a rapport, establish a trust and work with them to
develop their self sufficiency through education programs.
Education is Key:
First education will be introduced in the form of Enhanced
Education both for the children and the adults. Gradually we can
introduce health education, agricultural education, and income generating
project like
Proxy Writing.
Help from Our Friends:
Sevabharathi is a very well established NGO (Non Government Organization) for
Social Welfare in India. They are the group that helped us to identify the
girls for Girlstown and to target the people to
receive the Disaster Relief in Nagapattinam. Using
the results of their meticulous field work and documentation, we can ensure
that your contributions will go to where they are needed most.
They will be working closely with us to identify the villages, and to build a
lasting relationship with the communities. The "Pay It
Forward" program will be integral in spreading the word of HoPE around
to as many needy villages as possible- a Community of Communities.
